Quadrant COVID Up-date

Dear Patient,

We hope you are well and enjoying some form of “normality” again.

Although socially we are enjoying the freedoms the re-opening brings us, the remobilisation plan of dental services is independent of these changes and unfortunately is going at a much slower pace. While we are able to offer a broader range of dental treatments, it does not mean business as usual for us for a number of reasons.

Even though our whole team are working full time, due to ongoing restrictions we are still working at a significant reduced capacity. For each use of the drill (AGP) we have to incorporate time for “air exchange”, meaning our appointment times for treatment have almost doubled. We have invested in the latest ventilation and air filtration systems, to allow us to reduce fallow time to the minimum required by the current guidelines, however we are still a long way from where we were before the pandemic.

Our reception area has also been modified to allow social distancing and where possible we ask you to wait in your car and call the practice when you arrive. We will need to ask you a series of COVID related questions, and one of our team will then come and collect you as soon as the surgery is ready.

Another change that you may notice is the increased PPE that our staff have to wear to perform certain procedures. I promise we are still smiling underneath!

We are pleased to say that we are slowly starting to invite patients for routine procedures, however we are prioritising children at this time. Due to the volume of patients registered at the practice, we will pre-allocate appointments for children and will be in touch soon with your allocated timeslot.  As has been the case throughout the pandemic, people requiring urgent and emergency care will still be prioritised.

We really appreciate your patience during these times and we hope this answers some of the questions you may have. As always, should you be in any pain or have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the practice and a member of our team will be happy to help.

What to expect when you come to Quadrant Dental Practice

To all our valued patients…

we know you are all desperate to come to the dentist… I bet that’s a phrase you never thought you would use?

Following the First Minister’s announcement the practice is entering its first phase of re-opening. However, this is for urgent emergency care only. We are expecting to be very busy, so please be patient with us.

Appointments can only be made via telephone. We kindly ask that you please do not attend the practice without an appointment as the front door will need to remain locked throughout the day.

All routine appointments are still cancelled, and we will be in touch as soon as we can to reappoint you. Should you have a dental emergency please see new procedures below:

  • Please call the practice on 01292 268880 where you will be triaged accordingly and screened for COVID.
  • When you arrive, please stay in your car (or on the seat provided) and telephone the practice to inform us you have arrived. Please ensure you have your mobile with you.
  • The receptionist will re-confirm your details and your COVID-19 status. She will then advise you to wait where you are until she calls back to say it is safe for you to enter the building.
  • We ask that you attend alone unless a parent/ carer is required, and that you bring as little belongings as possible.
  • The front door will be opened for you by a member of our team, who will ask you to sanitise your hands using an alcohol gel hand rub at the front door, before you are escorted to the surgery.
  • Once the dentist has addressed your dental problem you will be escorted directly to our exit. You will be asked to sanitise your hands again before you depart.
  • If there is a charge for your dental treatment, reception will contact you on your telephone after your departure and discuss payment details.

Again, we really want to take the opportunity to thank you for your patience during these unprecedented times and we hope to be back to routine care very soon!

First Minister Anouncement 18th July 2020

As some of you will have heard from the First Minister today, dental practices are now allowed to re-open for face to face EMERGENCY CARE only. Please note we have only just been made aware of this, and are reacting to it as fast as we can, so that we may be available to our patients this coming Monday.

Due to government restrictions, we are only allowed to open one of our five surgeries to see patients. In addition, requirements set on social distancing and increased hygiene measures, will have a significant impact on the number of patients we are allowed to see per day.

Initially, we will need to prioritise EMERGENCIES AND URGENT CARE, such as uncontrollable pain and swelling. During this phase we are also sadly restricted in the procedures we are permitted to carry out. Our triage service will remain in place until further notice, so that there will always be a member of our team to help you at the end of the phone. Please dial 01292 268880.

Since we will be limited to the number of people in the practice at one time, please do not attend the practice without a pre-arranged appointment.

As a team we are very frustrated by this, as we understand you will be too, but please bear with us as we move into this new phase. Your oral health and wellbeing continue to be at the forefront of everything we do and we remain optimistic that these are the first steps to finding the new ‘normal’ for dentistry.

The Practice may look a little different going forward with changes implemented to allow social distancing and changes to the PPE our dentists and hygienists will wear. However, we will be the same team with the same smiles awaiting you on your return.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding.
